NEAG - Nillumbik Environment Action Group
Nillumbik to be Carbon Neutral ? (cont.)
To get this process underway, a 'community group' consisting of representatives from environmental groups, friends of groups, business and other interested individuals has been formed. Of course, NEAG has a rep on this group. The community group has called itself CLEAN ENERGY NILLUMBIK. The task of this group is to develop a carbon neutral plan for Nillumbik Council to consider.
For the Shire of Nillumbik to become carbon neutral, it must :
1. Measure its carbon footprint,
2. Reduce emissions,
3. Increase the use of 'clean energy,' and
4. Offset any residual emissions.
Once a strategy (Plan) has been developed, the Nillumbik community can begin taking the suggested actions necessary to achieve the Plan's goal of carbon neutrality.
As you are aware, Climate Change presents a major challenge for humanity, and we all have a responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint, to do our part to help mitigate the effects of climate change. Nillumbik now has the opportunity to further reduce its emissions and ultimately become carbon neutral.
Please support the 'Clean Energy Nillumbik' Community group achieve its goal.
